Marvel (MCU): The Woman in the Red Dress

Fandom: Marvel (MCU), Captain America (Movies)

Title: The Woman in the Red Dress
Author: raise_the_knife/Starfire (kalypsobean)
Characters/Pairings: Peggy Carter/Steve Rogers
Rating: Not Rated
Word count: 2422
Summary: The first time he wakes up knowing that he's in the twenty-first century, he thinks of Peggy, and wonders what she would have thought of all this.

Why I like it: Light angst ahead. This is a short but very sweet look at how Steve goes from the confused Super soldier who just woke up in present day New York who missed his chance at romance, to the man who meets an older Peggy Carter again. It's sad, but it's also sweet and Natasha's involvement in this makes absolute sense and adds a nice additional touch.

Harry Potter: In the House of Horus (Fic)

Fandom: Harry Potter

Title: In the House of Horus
Author: hikarievandar
Characters/Pairings: Bill Weasley/Harry Potter
Rating: Explicit
Word count: 2430
Summary: Trapped in the warding chamber of an Egyptian tomb, Harry and Bill must make a sacrifice to the goddess Hathor in order to escape.

Why I like it: It’s pretty much a bit of fuck-or-die-scenario porn with wonderfully wry Harry characterisation and something that amounts to hot ritual sex. Do you honestly need to know more?

Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy X: Modulation (Fic)

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy X

Title: Modulation
Author: siskin (siskinsplace)
Characters/Pairings: Tidus/Yuna, Aeris
Rating: G
Word count: 2288
Summary: An unexpected meeting on the Farplane...

Why I like it: This is a wonderful, quiet and hopefully little gen fic with some Tidus/Yuna in the background. Tidus is on the farplane now and is still processing what he has learned about himself. He seems to be on the verge that his not being real means that there’s never going to be a way out of this place where he is now. And then he wanders into the Lifestream or something and Aeris sends him on with a bit more hope.

There’s a nice bit of introspection and the Aeris voice rings so wonderfully true. And it’s so her, that she would still be meddling in people's affairs in the afterlife if she saw the chance of someone finding happiness.

Doctor Who (Classic): Synchronicity (Fic)

Title: Synchronicity
Author: Joan Milligan (fantasyjax)
Characters/Pairings: Fourth Doctor/Romana
Rating: Explicit
Word count: 1526
Summary: There can never be enough Four/Romana porn with temporal mechanics stream of consciousness in it.

Why I like it: The summary says it all actually. This is a wonderful look at the inner workings of Time Lord sex and intimacy. The way the stream of consciousness style narrative explores how time and Time Lord telepathy come into play is truly wondrous.

Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy VII: Disconnect (Fic)

Fandom: Kingdom Hearts/Final Fantasy VII

Title: Disconnect
Author: justira
Characters/Pairings: Gen with hints of Squall/Rinoa
Rating: None/Auhtoh chose not to give one (I'd rate it teen)
Word count: 3734
Summary: He has experience dealing with sorceresses.

Why I like it:This fic is intense and beautiful and answers two very interesting questions that I always have to ask myself in connection with Kingdom Hearts: How did all the FF worlds up being one world - and what happened with the rest of the FFVIII crowd. This answers what happened to Rinoa specifically and explores how Squall got to be Leon in a very compelling way, involving Time Compression and fighting sorceresses. In this case it's Maleficent. The whole piece brings out the fierce loyalty in Squall.

The language and the way scenes flow into each other makes this perfect. It’s clear how memories are affected, how upsetting and terrible the momentum of the spells and changes around Squall are to him.

The story makes ample use of FFVIII lore form GFs to sorceresses and knights and the time compression and paves the way for Squall becoming Leon in Kingdomhearts.

It’s a compelling read and it deserves more love!
